The Eden Top is a V-neck top knitted in Open Daisy Stitch with a 1x1 rib hem and folded stocking stitch trims.

 

Knitted from the bottom up, the Eden Top is worked in the round until reaching the armholes. The stitches are then split in half, working flat to form the front and back separately. The shoulder seams are joined, and stitches are picked up around the neck and armholes. The trims are then knitted in the round, casting off whilst folding the trim in half.

 

This pattern provides easy to follow detailed instructions using the following techniques:

Long tail cast on, knitting in the round, knitting flat, knit, purl, slip stitch, decreasing, increasing, picking up stitches, cast off, folded cast off.

 

Skill Level: Intermediate.

 

Sizing: 8 sizes (XS-4X) see size guide. Alice wears size 2 (S).

 

Yarn: Fingering weight yarn. We recommend using a mix of merino and silk or cotton to create a cool fabric with some elasticity.

For colour A you will need approx. 80g/400m [90g/450m, 100g/500m, 115g/575m, 135g/675m, 145g/725m, 158g/790m, 176g/880m].

For colour B you will need approx. 30g/150m [35g/175m, 40g/200m, 45g/225m, 50g/250m, 55g/275m, 60g/300m, 65g/325m].

 

We have used:

Colour A + trims - Light Blue

2 [2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4] balls of Knitting For Olive Merino in Ice Blue - 100% Merino wool. (250m/273yds per 50g ball.)

Colour B - Olive Green

1 [1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2] balls of Knitting For Olive Pure Silk in Olive - 100% silk. (250m/273yds per 50g ball.)

 

We also made a solid colour version, you will need approx. 110g/550m[125g/625m, 145g/725m, 160g/800m, 185g/925m, 200g/1000m, 220g/1100m, 245g/1225m].

 

We have used 1 [1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2] balls of Knitting For Olive Merino for the trims and 2 [2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4] balls of Knitting For Olive Pure Silk for the main fabric. Both in Deep Petroleum Blue. Using just silk for the main fabric creates a more open and looser draping fabric.

 

Alternative yarns: Gepard Garn Cotton Wool 3, Drops flora with Drops Loves You 7, Quince & co Finch with Sparrow.

 

Suggested Needles:

3mm/US 2.5 circular knitting needles, length 60- 80/24-32'' and 40-50cm/16-20''

5mm/US 8 circular knitting needles, length 60- 80cm/24-32''

 

Gauge: Open Daisy Stitch on 5mm/US 8 needles:

10cm/4’’ x 10cm/4’’ = 26 stitches x 20 rows
