  • Crocheted in double crochet stripes, the Shade Scarf has a lightweight but warm feel. It's a great project to practice the double crochet stitch and experiment with mixing different colours and yarns. 

     

    With step-by-step, easy-to-follow instructions this pattern uses the following techniques: chain stitch and double crochet stitch. All crochet terminology is US.

    Yarn: Aran/worsted weight yarn in 6 colours. You will need approx 45g/80m per stripe. This is also a great project to use up any odd balls of yarn left over from past projects. See below for some examples of yarn we have used:

     

    Lang Yarns Carpe Diem - 70% Merino Wool, 30% Alpaca. (90m/98yds per 50g skein.)

     

    Lana Grossa Brigitte No.2 - 47% Alpaca, 45% Cotton, 8% Wool. (140m/153yds per 50g skein.)

     

    Drops Nepal - 65% Wool, 35% Alpaca. (75m/82yds per 50g skein.)

     

    Wool and the Gang Take Care Mohair - 78% Kid Mohair, 13% Wool, 9% Polyamide. (100m/109yds per 50g skein.)

     

    Suggested Hook Size:  6.5mm Crochet Hook
